Most advertising technology tries to reach people before they buy. Rokt works on the far side of the transaction, on confirmation and thank you pages, where a completed purchase is turned into an offer for something else. Founded in 2012 and sold by Rokt as a Proprietary service, the platform matches a customer who has just checked out with third party offers, and splits the resulting revenue with the merchant.

Presence is therefore a commercial qualification more than a technical one. A merchant only earns from post transaction placements if it processes enough completed orders for the inventory to be worth buying, so the customer base skews toward retailers, travel brands, ticketing and subscription services with real volume. Competing post transaction networks want a displacement list. Analysts studying ecommerce monetization want a measurable proxy for which merchants have moved past selling only their own goods.

The dataset tells you the shape of the whole detected population: which ecommerce platforms these merchants are built on when you join it against the other technologies in the same row, how the base distributes by country and top level domain, and which domains entered or left between two snapshots. For a category where the customer set is deliberately not published anywhere, an independently collected list is the only version of that map you can actually hold.
