About Ripple
Two unrelated products answer to the name Ripple, and the record we hold for this one does not agree with itself. The category field reads JavaScript frameworks and the vendor field names State Government of Victoria, both pointing at the blockchain settlement network. The reference site recorded against the fingerprint points elsewhere, at documentation for a front-end design system published on GitHub Pages. So the honest statement is that our figure counts a fingerprint match on a name, not a verified deployment of either product.
Which of the two a web page is more likely to contain is not a close call. A settlement network is server-to-server infrastructure. A bank or a payment provider that clears through one leaves nothing in its HTML, because the money never moves through the browser. A design system is the opposite kind of thing, a set of class name prefixes, bundled scripts and stylesheets a crawler can read directly. Anything detectable from a page is therefore far more likely to be the front-end product wearing the same name.
The dates inherit the same doubt. A first appearance in 2012 is recorded, and the year belongs to the history attached to the vendor field rather than to anything we confirmed inside a page. Metadata carried along with a label is not evidence.
As of October 2026 the count stands at 8 sites, small enough that a single mislabelled fingerprint would move it noticeably. We would rather print the caveat than a confident sentence that turns out to describe the wrong software.
None of which makes the row useless, as long as you use it for what it is. A list of candidate hostnames is the fastest way to start, because verification per host is cheap once you have the set and impossible before you do. Anyone studying design system adoption across public sites, and anyone tracking where crypto payment rails surface on the open web, should work the same way here: pull the list, confirm on a sample, and let the confirmed subset define the population. A per-domain lookup hands you a yes or a no carrying exactly the same ambiguity, one domain at a time, with no way to spot the pattern that would resolve it.
