About Intel Active Management Technology
Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) is an out-of-band remote management technology built into Intel processors and chipsets, primarily targeting business and enterprise PCs. AMT allows IT administrators to remotely access, manage, and repair computers even when the operating system is unresponsive, powered off, or the hard drive has failed, as long as the machine is connected to a network and has power.
AMT is part of Intel's vPro platform and operates independently of the main CPU and OS via a dedicated management engine. Features include remote power cycling, KVM access, hardware inventory, and event logging. It is used extensively in corporate environments for fleet management and remote helpdesk operations.
