Protovis é uma biblioteca de visualização de dados em JavaScript, de código aberto, desenvolvida pelo Visualization Group da Universidade de Stanford. Lançada por volta de 2009, oferecia uma abordagem declarativa, baseada em marcas, para construir gráficos e imagens interativas diretamente no navegador utilizando SVG, permitindo aos programadores descrever visualizações em termos de marcas gráficas e das suas propriedades.

O Protovis teve influência na comunidade de visualização de dados e serviu de precursor ao D3.js, que foi desenvolvido pela mesma equipa, liderada por Mike Bostock. Embora o Protovis tenha demonstrado técnicas de visualização composicional poderosas, o seu desenvolvimento foi descontinuado em favor do D3.js, que oferecia maior flexibilidade e uma correspondência mais próxima com as normas web. Ainda é possível encontrar instalações antigas do Protovis em sites académicos e de investigação do início da década de 2010.
