À propos de IPFS
Presque tous les sites du web résolvent une adresse vers un serveur. Un site qui utilise IPFS résout une adresse vers du contenu, identifié par le hash de ses propres octets, et laisse le réseau trouver une copie là où elle se trouve. En octobre 2026 nous détectons le protocole à l’œuvre sur 243 sites.
Protocol Labs a publié la première implémentation en 2015, écrite en Go et diffusée sous licence MIT. L’adressage par contenu est toute l’idée. Un fichier possède un identifiant unique dérivé de son contenu, n’importe quel nœud qui détient ces octets peut les servir, et une page qui référence l’identifiant se moque de savoir quelle machine répond. La conséquence pratique pour qui lit ce dataset est que la présence du protocole sur un site web ne signifie presque jamais que ce site est un nœud. Dans la plupart des cas, le site pointe vers du contenu ou l’intègre par une passerelle, c’est-à-dire un serveur web classique qui transforme un hash en requête ordinaire.
Le savoir change ce dont la liste témoigne. Un domaine de cet ensemble a fait le choix délibéré de publier ou de référencer des actifs hors de son propre hébergement, et en pratique ce choix se regroupe en familles, à savoir les projets de jetons et les places de marché qui stockent métadonnées et médias, les efforts d’archivage et d’édition qui recherchent la durabilité, les miroirs résistants à la censure, et un groupe plus discret d’équipes techniques qui emploient l’adressage par contenu comme simple infrastructure pour des actifs statiques. Pour un chercheur qui suit le secteur décentralisé, l’ensemble est une carte utilisable de qui a réellement livré quelque chose plutôt que de qui a annoncé une intention.
Les réserves sont réelles et doivent figurer à côté du chiffre. Les références de passerelle se voient facilement, si bien que les sites qui passent par une passerelle publique sont bien représentés, alors qu’un site qui épingle son propre contenu et le sert par une passerelle privée sous son propre domaine peut ne rien montrer de reconnaissable tout court. Du contenu peut aussi n’être référencé que sur une page que nous n’avons jamais récupérée. Les références mortes persistent des années après qu’un projet a cessé de les entretenir, si bien que la population comprend des sites où le protocole est présent mais où rien n’est activement servi.
