Про Let's Encrypt

Майже кожен сайт у публічній мережі тепер віддається через HTTPS, і велика частка тих сертифікатів походить від Let's Encrypt. Наш підрахунок цього не стверджує. Станом на жовтень 2026 р. ми фіксуємо цей центр сертифікації на такій кількості сайтів: 16 373, і це число про виявлення, а не про видачу. Різницю варто зрозуміти, перш ніж використовувати цифру для чогось.

Internet Security Research Group запустила центр сертифікації у 2016 році і роздає сертифікати безкоштовно на умовах Open Source, а видача й поновлення автоматизовані через протокол ACME, тож панелі хостингу, панелі керування та вебсервери можуть запитувати їх без участі людини. Безкоштовна автоматична видача і зробила цей центр повсюдним, а повсюдність якраз і робить підрахунок за відбитком неповним. Обхід приписує сертифікат тоді, коли ланцюжок, рядок видавця або довколишню конфігурацію вдалося зафіксувати й розпізнати, і не приписує нічого, коли проксі, мережа доставки контенту або балансувальник навантаження виставляє перед джерелом власний сертифікат.

Частковий сигнал лишається сигналом, щойно ви знаєте, у чому саме він частковий. Сайти, які завершують TLS самостійно, на власному сервері й із власним сертифікатом, це саме ті сайти, де виявлення працює, і водночас цікава сукупність для багатьох питань. Самостійне завершення TLS означає справжній сервер з адміністратором, процес поновлення, який може зламатися, і конфігурацію, яка може застаріти. Через це хостинг-провайдери, постачальники керованих сервісів, сканери безпеки та продукти для керування сертифікатами цікавляться тим, хто входить до цієї групи.

Географія підсилює цю думку. Найбільше виявлень зафіксовано у Південній Кореї, де їхня кількість становить 5 156, а через увесь список проходить суфікс .com. Розподіл відображає радше те, які хостингові екосистеми видають сертифікати у прямо видимий спосіб, ніж те, які країни перейшли на шифрування. Читати поле країни як міру поширення шифрування було б помилкою. Читати його як карту того, де поширений певний хостинговий патерн, цілком справедливо.

Нічого з цього не можна відтворити по одному домену за раз, а саме по одному домену за раз це питання зазвичай і ставлять. Браузер повідомляє будь-якому відвідувачеві, хто видав сертифікат для сайту перед ним. Чого не скаже жоден браузер, так це того, як сукупність доменів ділиться за видавцями, як цей поділ змінюється між країнами й суфіксами і яка його частина завершує TLS сама, а не ховається за чужим периметром. Завантажуваний список це та форма, у якій на таке питання справді можна відповісти.
