Favicon є невеликою піктограмою, пов'язаною з вебсайтом або вебсторінкою, яку браузери показують в адресному рядку, вкладках браузера, закладках та списках історії. Концепцію запровадила компанія Microsoft разом з Internet Explorer 5 у березні 1999 року, спочатку як файл з назвою favicon.ico, розміщений у кореневому каталозі сайту.
