Una capa de accesibilidad se instala como respuesta a algo, y ese algo suele ser jurídico.

User Accessibility es un widget: una barra de herramientas flotante, cargada en la página como JavaScript, que ofrece a los visitantes ajustes como texto más grande, mayor contraste, un cursor más grande y movimiento reducido sin ningún cambio en el sitio subyacente. La adopción la impulsan menos los equipos de diseño que el riesgo. La legislación de accesibilidad se ha vuelto exigible en suficientes jurisdicciones como para que empresas, organismos públicos y tiendas en línea salgan a buscar una respuesta rápida y comprable, y una capa superpuesta alojada es la más rápida del mercado.

Que las herramientas de esta clase cumplan lo prometido es objeto de discusión. Los profesionales de la accesibilidad sostienen que una capa superpuesta se coloca encima de los problemas del marcado en lugar de arreglarlos, y que las personas que usan tecnología de apoyo a menudo desactivan estos widgets. Nuestros datos no zanjan esa discusión ni pretenden hacerlo. Lo que los datos aportan es la población: qué sitios recurrieron a una capa superpuesta, en qué sectores y países, y cómo se desplaza esa población a medida que se mueve la legislación.

La etiqueta tiene licencia Proprietary y está alojada, lo que da una detección limpia. Una página carga el script del widget o no lo carga. Lo que no podemos ver es si el widget llegó a configurarse, si es la única medida de accesibilidad que ha tomado el operador o si las páginas que hay debajo pasarían una auditoría por sí solas. Una fila de nuestra exportación registra una compra, no un nivel de conformidad.

En octubre de 2026 registramos 269 sitios que llevan el script, clasificados en la categoría Accessibility porque un widget de cumplimiento no es ni un framework ni una plataforma. Los proveedores rivales, tanto los de capa superpuesta como los de auditoría, leen una lista así como compradores que ya han aceptado que tienen una obligación, y esa aceptación es la parte cara de la venta. Los bufetes y las consultoras de cumplimiento la leen como prueba de cómo responde un mercado a la regulación. Los investigadores que auditan la accesibilidad en el mundo real la leen como un marco muestral que no está autoseleccionado. Una consulta aislada dice que un sitio compró un widget. La exportación dice cómo respondió todo un sector a una pregunta jurídica, y con qué rapidez.
