Acerca de Semantic UI

Un framework de interfaz sirve para datar un sitio web con más fiabilidad que para describirlo. Semantic UI pertenece a la clasificación UI frameworks y se construyó sobre una apuesta concreta: que los nombres de clase se leyeran como inglés corriente, de modo que el marcado describiera la intención en lugar de la maquetación. La apuesta funcionó lo bastante bien como para que el framework se extendiera por paneles de administración, cuadros de mando, sitios de documentación y páginas de marketing de producto durante los años en que una biblioteca de componentes apoyada en jQuery era la opción razonable por defecto.

Después el impulso se frenó. El trabajo sobre el proyecto original se volvió intermitente y una bifurcación de la comunidad asumió el mantenimiento activo, lo que deja a la base instalada en una posición peculiar: en funcionamiento, ampliamente desplegada y sin seguir ya nada del proyecto de origen. Nuestros datos de versión cuentan lo mismo desde el otro lado. Distinguimos 7 versiones y asociamos 2.4.2 a más detecciones que ninguna otra etiqueta, y una concentración de ese tipo es la que aparece cuando un proyecto deja de publicar y sus usuarios dejan de actualizar a su ritmo.

En octubre de 2026 registramos Semantic UI en 6578 sitios. El framework está escrito en JavaScript, se publicó con licencia MIT y data de 2013, lo que sitúa su curva de adopción antes de las herramientas de compilación y de las convenciones de modelo de componentes que llegaron después y rehicieron la forma de montar interfaces.

Una dependencia congelada es una señal comercial tanto como técnica. Los proveedores de herramientas y quienes mantienen frameworks leen la lista por un tercer motivo, como medida de cuánto código en producción sigue apoyándose en un proyecto cuyo desarrollo de origen se ha quedado en silencio.

La detección se basa en el marcado y por eso es parcial. Un paso de compilación que renombre o pode los nombres de clase, o una capa de temas que envuelva el framework en algo propio, puede ocultarlo por completo, y las cadenas de versión solo afloran donde se sirve un archivo de distribución sin modificar, de manera que una parte de las coincidencias llega sin versión asociada. Los totales son una cota inferior y no un recuento de la huella real del framework.

Lo que añade una descarga frente a una comprobación dominio a dominio es la posibilidad de tener la población entera a la vez y segmentarla: por línea de versión, por país, por sufijo de dominio o por las demás tecnologías que la acompañan en esas mismas páginas. Confirmar que un sitio concreto usa un framework envejecido cuesta un navegador y un minuto. Dimensionar el mercado de sitios que tendrán que abandonarlo, y obtener la lista de dominios que permite pasar a la acción, exige el conjunto completo.
