Acerca de YUI
YUI no es una tecnología que nadie esté eligiendo hoy. Yahoo publicó la biblioteca como código abierto en 2006, dejó de desarrollarla hace mucho, y el mundo de JavaScript en general se marchó hacia los registros de paquetes, los empaquetadores y el renderizado guiado por frameworks. Toda página que sigue sirviendo la biblioteca es una página que no se ha reconstruido desde ese cambio, o que heredó el código de algo más antiguo que el propio sitio que lo rodea.
Detectar una biblioteca abandonada es un indicador indirecto de mantenimiento y no de preferencia. Un sitio que carga YUI suele estar usando un tema, un portal de intranet, una consola de administración o un widget de proveedor escrito cuando la biblioteca estaba vigente y no tocado desde entonces. Las condiciones de la licencia BSD con la que se publicó permiten que copias del código fuente permanezcan intactas dentro de otros productos durante muchísimo tiempo, y los ficheros JavaScript viajan a menudo empaquetados dentro de una plantilla en lugar de añadirlos quien hoy lleva el sitio. Nadie renueva ninguna suscripción por ella, así que nada empuja a revisarla.
El recuento es más blando que una huella sobre una biblioteca con mantenimiento activo. Cotejamos nombres de ficheros, objetos globales y rutas de script que la biblioteca expone, lo que captura las instalaciones convencionales y deja fuera las compilaciones concatenadas o renombradas. Los sitios que copiaron unas pocas utilidades de la biblioteca sin publicar su cargador no aparecerán en absoluto. Lea la cifra como prueba de un remanente visible, no como un censo de cada línea de ese código que sigue en marcha.
En octubre de 2026 detectamos YUI en 2356 sitios, una población más pequeña de la que la biblioteca llegó a tener y también más interesante. Los investigadores de seguridad usan listas así para dimensionar la exposición que crea un código que ya no recibe parches, porque una dependencia sin mantenimiento no anuncia sus propias vulnerabilidades. Los proveedores de modernización y de migración la usan para encontrar propietarios que van demostrablemente retrasados, un criterio de cualificación mucho mejor que el tamaño de la empresa. Los analistas la usan como curva de decaimiento, porque una biblioteca retirada abandona la web despacio y de forma desigual en lugar de golpe, y esa salida dice algo sobre qué regiones y qué sectores refrescan sus sitios con menos frecuencia. Una consulta dominio a dominio le dice que un sitio se quedó anclado en el pasado. La lista descargable le dice quién más está anclado ahí, sobre qué plataformas, en qué países y con qué rapidez encoge el remanente.
