Acerca de Sitecore

La gestión de contenidos empresarial es una decisión que se toma una vez y con la que se convive buena parte de una década, y eso es lo que hace que merezca la pena observarla desde fuera. Sitecore ocupa el extremo caro del mercado de la categoría CMS, y Sitecore lo vende como una plataforma de personalización, publicación multimercado y ejecución de campañas más que como una manera de poner páginas en la web. Las organizaciones no llegan a esta plataforma por accidente. Ponerlo en marcha exige un socio de implantación, una negociación de licencia y un equipo capaz de mantener aplicaciones en C#, así que un dominio que lo usa pertenece casi siempre a una empresa con una función de desarrollo interna o contratada.

La detección significa por tanto algo bastante concreto. Encontrar Sitecore en un sitio dice menos sobre la tecnología del sitio que sobre el gasto de la empresa, su estilo de compras y el ecosistema de agencias que la rodea. Sitecore se remonta a 2001 y se distribuye con licencia Proprietary, y esa larga historia se nota en lo que hay desplegado hoy.
