we unifies RDAP and WHOIS sources into one consistent format, providing
registrar, creation, expiration, and status data for every active domain.
The dataset RDAP & WHOIS is built primarily on the RDAP protocol (Registration Data Access Protocol) — the modern and structured standard for domain registration data. RDAP provides machine-readable JSON responses, supports authentication, and follows international data-protection rules such as GDPR. Compared to WHOIS, it delivers cleaner, standardised, and more reliable data suitable for automated processing and large-scale analysis.
Where RDAP is not yet supported by a registry, webatla automatically falls back to the WHOIS protocol. Although WHOIS is a legacy format, it remains the only source of registration data for many TLDs that have not migrated to RDAP. This dual-method approach ensures broad coverage across the global Internet while maintaining consistent data structure.
Note: not all TLDs provide either RDAP or WHOIS access. Domains and zones without any available registration data are not included in the dataset or statistics. The dataset therefore represents all domains with a valid RDAP or WHOIS response.
The table below shows a small sample of domains included in the dataset.
Each record contains the latest available RDAP or WHOIS data retrieved from the corresponding registry.
The full dataset includes hundreds of millions of active domains with identical structure and verified fields.
