Acerca de SPIP

La longevidad es lo primero que conviene entender sobre SPIP. El proyecto se remonta a 2001, lo que lo sitúa entre los gestores de contenidos anteriores a la idea misma de que un sitio web se construya siquiera sobre un framework. SPIP se escribió en Francia, para equipos editoriales francófonos, y desde entonces ha conservado ese centro de gravedad: medios de comunicación, universidades, sindicatos, ayuntamientos y organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro de Francia, Bélgica, Suiza, Quebec y el África francófona. El software nunca persiguió el mercado global que se llevó WordPress, y su comunidad no parece haber querido nunca que lo hiciera.
