Acerca de Misskey

El fediverso tiene un dialecto japonés, y Misskey lo habla. Levantar una instancia significa instalarla, alojarla y moderarla uno mismo, así que cada dominio de este conjunto representa a un operador y no a un cliente, y la población en su conjunto cartografía infraestructura voluntaria y de pequeña escala, no el canal de ventas de un proveedor.

Nuestro registro no recoge ningún proveedor para Misskey, lo cual es exacto y no una omisión. El proyecto lo desarrolla la comunidad y se publica con licencia AGPL v3, escrito en TypeScript, con una primera versión fechada en 2014. Una licencia copyleft de esa fuerza condiciona quién está dispuesto a desplegar el software, porque quien opera una instancia modificada como servicio público debe devolver esas modificaciones a las personas que la usan. Los operadores de este conjunto han aceptado por lo general esa condición a propósito.

La propiedad útil del conjunto es que cada entrada es un host independiente con un administrador que toma sus propias decisiones de infraestructura. Los proveedores de alojamiento y los proveedores de servicios gestionados leen una lista así como un mercado de gente que ya paga por servidores. Los investigadores que estudian redes descentralizadas la leen como marco muestral, ya que los datos por instancia son difíciles de obtener por cualquier otra vía y los directorios públicos de la propia red son autodeclarados e incompletos. Los equipos de confianza y seguridad la leen como superficie de moderación, porque la federación implica que el contenido originado en cualquier instancia puede llegar a los usuarios de todas las demás.

Una consulta por dominio confirmará que un sitio dado usa el software, que rara vez es la pregunta que alguien tiene de verdad. La pregunta es la forma de la red: cuántos hosts, en qué dominios de primer nivel, con qué más funcionando en la misma máquina y cómo se mueve el conjunto entre exportaciones a medida que las instancias aparecen, migran a bifurcaciones o cierran sin aviso. La enumeración sumada a la repetición es lo que hace visible todo eso, y comprobar dominios de uno en uno no ofrece ninguna de las dos.
