Stimulus, HTML'e davranış eklemek için Basecamp (şimdiki adıyla 37signals) tarafından geliştirilen mütevazı bir JavaScript framework'üdür. Ön yüzün tamamını devralmak yerine Stimulus, controller adı verilen JavaScript nesnelerini veri özellikleri (data attribute) aracılığıyla mevcut HTML öğelerine bağlar. Bu yaklaşım HTML'i tek gerçek kaynak olarak korur ve sunucu tarafında render edilen HTML ile sorunsuz biçimde çalışır.

Hotwire araç ailesinin bir parçası olarak 2018 yılında yayımlanan Stimulus, tek sayfa uygulama mimarilerine karşı sunucu tarafı render'ı tercih eden ekipler için tasarlanmıştır. Özellikle Ruby on Rails topluluğunda popülerdir ve hızlı, HTML tabanlı gezinme için Turbo ile doğal biçimde uyum sağlar.
