Romanya'nın ülke kodu üst düzey alan adı (ccTLD) olan .ro, Romen çevrimiçi topluluğuna hizmet eder ve Doğu Avrupa'daki daha köklü ccTLD'lerden biridir. Romanya, yüksek geniş bant kullanımına ve özellikle yazılım geliştirme ile BT hizmetlerinde gelişen bir teknoloji sektörüne sahip dinamik bir internet pazarına sahiptir. .ro alan adı, RoTLD (Romania Top Level Domain) tarafından yönetilir ve Romen işletmeleri, devlet kurumları, eğitim kurumları ve bireyler tarafından yaygın olarak kullanılır.

1993 yılında kurulan .ro uzantısı, yüz binlerce tescilli alan adını kapsayacak şekilde büyümüştür.
