.mobi genel üst düzey alan adı, mobil cihazlar için optimize edilmiş web siteleri amacıyla özel olarak oluşturulmuş ve mobil web'in daha küçük ekranlara ve sınırlı bant genişliğine uyarlanmış farklı içerik gerektirdiği bir dönemde piyasaya sürülmüştür. 2005 yılında tahsis edilen ve 2006 yılında ticari olarak piyasaya sürülen .mobi, kullanıcıların mobil uyumlu içeriği tanımasına ve mobil operatörlerin müşterilerine daha iyi deneyimler sunmasına yardımcı olacak bir alan adı uzayı olarak tasarlanmıştır.

Ayrı bir mobil web vizyonu, duyarlı tasarım (responsive design) ve mobil öncelikli geliştirme cihaza özgü alan adlarını daha az gerekli kıldığından tam olarak gerçekleşmemiş olsa da .mobi önemli bir kayıt tabanını korumuştur. Mobil odaklı işletmeler, uygulama geliştiricileri ve mobile özgü portallar işleten şirketler tarafından kullanılır.
