.post, küresel posta sektörü için belirlenmiş, dünya genelinde posta politikalarını koordine eden Birleşmiş Milletler uzman kuruluşu Dünya Posta Birliği (UPU) himayesinde yönetilen sponsorlu bir üst düzey alan adı uzantısıdır. Bu uzantı, dünya genelindeki ulusal posta operatörleri, posta hizmetleri ve bağlı kuruluşlar için güvenilir ve doğrulanmış bir dijital ad alanı işlevi görmek üzere oluşturulmuştur.

.post uzantısı, Dünya Posta Birliği üyeleriyle, öncelikle ulusal posta idareleriyle ve bunların yetkili ortaklarıyla sınırlıdır. Genel kayda açık değildir. Bu uzantı, posta hizmetlerine dijital postayı, e-ticaret lojistiğini ve posta sektörü iletişimini destekleyebilecek, tanınabilir ve güvenli bir çevrimiçi kimlik sağlamayı amaçlar. DNSSEC ve sıkı kayıt politikaları, .post ad alanının bütünlüğünü ve güvenilirliğini sağlamaya yardımcı olur.
