.cm Hakkında

Kamerun, resmi dilleri Fransızca ve İngilizce olan, olağanüstü dilsel ve kültürel çeşitliliğiyle bilinen bir Orta Afrika ülkesidir. Ülkenin resmi ülke kodu üst düzey alan adı, Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) tarafından yönetilen .cm'dir. .cm uzantısı, .com ile tesadüfi benzerliği nedeniyle uluslararası ilgi çekmiştir ve bu durum yazım hatası kapkaççılığını (typo-squatting) tarihsel olarak bu alan adıyla ilişkilendirilen önemli bir sorun haline getirmiştir.

.cm uzantısı 1995 yılında tahsis edilmiştir ve öncelikle Kamerun devlet kurumları, yerel işletmeler ve eğitim kuruluşları tarafından kullanılmaktadır. Kayıt politikaları zaman içinde gelişmiştir ve alan adı belirli bir uluslararası görünürlük kazanmıştır. CAMTEL, ülkenin dijital altyapısını geliştirmek için çalışmalar yürütmüştür ve internet erişimi ülke genelinde genişlemeye devam ettikçe .cm alan adları Kamerun'un ulusal çevrimiçi kimliğinin oluşturulmasında rol oynamaktadır.
