carries labels that do not match the software behind them, and a reader deciding whether our file answers their question deserves to hear that before anything else. The category field calls it a Web servers and the language field says Perl, while the reference link on the same record points at the Perl module index, where the entry is documented as a standalone web server for Perl applications run through the PSGI interface and the Plack toolkit. The link is the part we can verify, and the labels disagree with it, so both are logged for correction rather than used as evidence. The entry is therefore not a mystery, only mislabelled. Documentation on that index describes a prefork server meant to sit behind a reverse proxy and to be redeployed without dropping requests, published under an older and much longer module name before it took the short one. What our crawler recorded is a fingerprint match, meaning a header, a path or a response shape that our rules associate with the name. The match itself is real and reproducible, while the descriptive metadata around it came from a catalogue we did not author. Facts that survive the labelling problem are the ones the crawl produced rather than the ones the catalogue supplied. As of October 2026 the signature appears on 125 sites, each with a domain, a country and a top level domain we observed directly, on a date we can state. The Perl 5 value carries its own caveat, because the terms printed on the module index are not the ones our column holds, and that field is under review as well. A server component of this sort ends up inside other products and inside prebuilt hosting images, a plausible route to a footprint of this size without any of the operators having chosen it deliberately. Use the row accordingly. For a researcher chasing infrastructure rather than brand names, a set of domains sharing an unusual server signature is a lead worth following even while the catalogue fields are being repaired, since the domains can be resolved, clustered by hosting provider and compared against the rest of the population.
