Search metadata is one of the things left undone that way, and SEOmatic exists so that Craft teams do not have to. The plugin is an SEO tool for Craft CMS, written in PHP by nystudio107, recorded in our catalogue under Proprietary and present in our data since 2016, and it does the unglamorous work of generating meta tags, structured data, sitemaps and canonical URLs from the content model instead of from hand-written templates. Craft CMS is deliberately quiet about itself. A competently built Craft site exposes no generator tag, no giveaway URL pattern and no shared asset directory, which makes the platform genuinely hard to count from the outside. A plugin that writes markup into every page is a different matter. Where the plugin appears, a Craft installation is nearly always underneath, so this SEO tool doubles as one of the few dependable fingerprints for a content system that otherwise hides. The second implication is commercial. Craft is a licensed product usually chosen by agencies and in-house teams who want editorial control without a sprawling plugin marketplace, and a dedicated search plugin layered on top means somebody treated search performance as a budget line rather than an afterthought.
