What a scan finds is the edge of it. Lead capture forms that post into the platform, marketing automation scripts, embedded chat, community and support portals served from vendor domains, and conversion tracking. Finding Salesforce on a public site is an inference about the inside of a company drawn from what leaks onto the outside. The inference is a strong one and it carries unusual commercial weight. Nobody points a lead form at a platform they do not run. A hit means the organisation has bought the platform, staffed someone to administer it, and connected its website to its pipeline, which places the company in a particular spending bracket and a particular stage of operational maturity. Businesses running sales out of a shared inbox do not appear in this population. Bounds matter in the other direction too. Plenty of organisations run the platform internally with no web facing component at all, using it purely for sales operations, and their sites look untouched from outside. Others sit behind an integration layer or a form vendor that hides the destination. As of October 2026 we detect the platform on 116,215 sites, and the honest reading of that number is a floor built from visible integrations rather than a census of licence holders. Geography follows the sales history rather than the addressable market. 74,328 of the sites we see are in United States, and the domain mix runs to .com. The platform has been sold since 1999 on Commercial terms by a vendor that helped establish subscription delivery for business software, and the earliest and deepest of that selling happened in its home market, which is what the distribution still shows. Adoption elsewhere came later, through partners and regional consultancies, and it shows up as a thinner and more evenly spread tail. Anyone can check one domain. The value of the list is at population level. Which industries and company sizes have wired their websites into the platform, which have not, which run a competing stack, and where an integration vendor, a consultancy or a data provider should aim its outbound.
