You can often recognise a MUI interface before a scanner does, because the buttons, the spacing and the form fields come out of the same specification on every site that uses the library. Consistency is the whole point of a component library, and consistency is also why its presence says something about the team behind the site.

MUI SAS has developed the library since 2014 and publishes the core under the MIT licence, written in JavaScript for React. Detection implies a React application rather than a page assembled by a template engine, and a team that chose speed of delivery over bespoke design. The pattern turns up across dashboards, admin consoles, internal tools and business software front ends. Marketing sites tend to want a look nobody else has, so they appear in this population less often.

Detection has a real limit here and it is worth stating plainly. Component libraries ship inside a compiled bundle, build tooling rewrites class names, and what survives into the delivered page is residue rather than a signature. Applications that renamed or fully compiled away the recognisable prefixes are invisible to a crawler. As of October 2026 we detect the library on 90,812 sites, which is a lower bound on a population that is genuinely hard to measure.

Compilation also explains a gap in the data. We publish no version breakdown for this library, because no dependable version marker reaches the page. Anyone who needs to know which release a particular application runs has to ask the application, not the crawl.

United States accounts for 61,896 of the detections and .com sits at the head of the suffix distribution, a shape that follows the geography of the React hiring market more than anything about the library itself.

The question the list answers is who has a React front end built on a shared design system. Recruiters and agencies sizing that market need the population, not a sample of it. Competing component libraries and design system vendors need it to know who is already committed and how deeply. Developer tool companies use it because a team that adopted one convention will adopt others. Checking a single domain by hand produces none of that, because the value sits entirely in the aggregate and in what else runs alongside.
