It does one thing, it has done it the same way for a very long time, and it is installed on sites whose owners wanted a contact form and stopped thinking about it immediately afterwards. It says somebody wanted to be reachable, which separates operating businesses from parked domains and abandoned projects more reliably than most technical signals. It is a low bar, and low bars are useful when the alternative is guessing. The plugin's longevity also makes it an unusually good age marker. We see 2,094 distinct version strings in production with 6.1.7 the most common, and because updates arrive through the platform's own mechanism with no technical skill required, falling behind is purely a question of whether anyone still logs in. A site several major releases back is a site nobody has administered in a long time. That reading has a security dimension that is not hypothetical. Form handling is a common source of published advisories, and a widely deployed form plugin at an old release is a recognised target rather than a theoretical one.
