Scaleflex launched the service in 2016 as a proxy in front of whatever storage a site already has: point the image URLs through it and the original file is resized, recompressed, converted to a modern format and cached at the edge on demand, with no build step and no second set of files to maintain. The implication of finding it in a stack is that somebody has done deliberate performance work. A CDN for images is not a framework default and it does not arrive by accident. The service turns up after a page speed audit, a Core Web Vitals problem, a slow catalogue or a redesign, which makes the detection a marker for a site with enough traffic and enough image volume that optimisation was worth paying for. Ecommerce catalogues, publishers and agency built marketing sites make up much of the mix, and the Proprietary subscription model means each detection corresponds to a paying account. As of October 2026 we detect Cloudimage on 2,301 sites. Detection here is mechanical and honest, because the service works by rewriting URLs and the rewritten host sits in plain view in the markup. A single lookup confirms one site. The list answers the questions that only exist in aggregate: which sectors and storefront platforms have adopted image proxying, what CDN and hosting choices travel alongside it, how the population moved since the previous snapshot, and which comparable sites carry heavy image loads with no optimisation layer at all, which is the inverse query and often the more commercially useful one. One caveat matters more than the others. Adoption is frequently partial. A team routes the product catalogue through the proxy and leaves the blog, the theme assets and the legacy pages on the origin, so a site can appear in the list while still serving much of its imagery the old way. A site can also drop out after a redesign without the account ever being closed.
