The service pins client feedback onto the page itself, capturing the element, the browser and the screen size along with the comment, so review cycles happen on the site instead of in a spreadsheet of screenshots. Finding the script on a production page is a statement about process, and often about timing. Some teams leave the JavaScript snippet in place permanently so clients can raise issues against the live site whenever they notice something. Others simply never removed it after launch. Either reading points at the same underlying arrangement, which is a build with a client on one side and an agency or an in house web team on the other. Ordinary script detections describe what a site does. A visual feedback tool describes who worked on it. BugHerd has sold the product as a Proprietary subscription since 2011, and the pricing model shapes how the list should be read. Somebody is paying per project or per seat, so every detection sits behind a paid account rather than a free file copied into a template. Project based tooling also makes the population unstable, because a tool tied to a delivery cycle can vanish from a site the week the project signs off. Detection depends on the snippet being served to anonymous visitors. Sites that load the tool only for logged in reviewers, only on a staging hostname, or through a tag manager rule that excludes ordinary traffic never expose it to us. Our count is a floor on the installed base and says nothing about accounts that keep their feedback work private.
