AOS does one job, bringing elements into view as the visitor scrolls, and it does that job through data attributes in the markup rather than through code somebody had to write. The library ships under an MIT licence, weighs very little, and can be added to a page by a designer who does not consider themselves a JavaScript developer. Because the entry cost is that low, presence says more about a page's purpose than about its engineering. Sites using the library are usually pages built to persuade: product launches, agency portfolios, campaign microsites and the long marketing pages that sit in front of a real application. Nobody animates a banking dashboard on scroll. The library appeared in 2015 and then slipped into themes, template marketplaces and page builder blocks, so a large part of the installed base arrived with a theme rather than through a deliberate choice. Version data is where the list becomes genuinely informative. We record 17 distinct versions in the wild, with 2.3.1 carrying the bulk of the installations. A spread of that shape is typical of a small dependency that simply works, because nothing forces an upgrade, the interface has not moved, and a copy bundled into a theme long ago keeps shipping to new sites well after its release. For anyone studying how front end dependencies age, a library where upgrading brings no visible benefit is a cleaner experiment than a framework under constant pressure to modernise. The people who ask for the cohort are usually selling to the makers rather than to the site owners: template authors sizing a market, page builder and CMS vendors deciding which effects to bring in house, conversion and analytics tools hunting for pages that were built to convert, and performance auditors who want to know how much animation code the marketing web is carrying around. The limits are the usual ones for a client side library, plus one specific to this kind of tool. Bundlers can inline the code into an application build where no recognisable file name survives, which hides installations from any scan. In the other direction, a page can load the library and animate nothing, because a theme included it and the owner never used the attributes.
